This page provides general information for all
Mums' Marketplace members

The Mums' Marketplace is a co-operative of craft-sellers and independent traders, holding regular sales events throughout the year in the Worthing area of West Sussex.

Mums' Marketplace is run by a committee and is completely non-profit making in itself, the aim being that by working together to hold events we can all benefit more than working alone. The committee is currently:

Suzanne Nicholls
Main roles: Member registration & co-ordination, event co-ordination, group accounts

Sam Whittington
Main roles: Event co-ordination, website management, flyer/poster design and production, press releases/newspaper editorials

Rachel Rowland
Main role: Bookings co-ordinator. Event and locations co-ordination

Alison Jones
Main role: Event co-ordination and floor-planning

Stalls at all Mums' Marketplace events must be booked and paid for in advance. The cost per event has been calculated simply by adding together:

  • Hall hire costs
  • Flyer printing
  • Local advertising costs e.g. in local newspapers/magazines
  • Any other incidentals e.g. decorations for the venue (balloons/bunting etc.).

The total is then divided by the number of places we can fit into the hall.

There are no strict rules within the Mums' Marketplace, we operate as a friendly group helping each other out. However, members are expected to follow our general guidelines:

  • No exact or close duplication of products/services is allowed at the same event.
  • Each member attending an event must print out and put up posters to advertise the event, and collect and then distribute a bundle of flyers in a specified area in advance of the event. (To keep costs down these are our main advertising tools, but we do a little other advertising depending on our budget, as well as utilizing any free publicity avenues).
  • All stallholders must help with setting up the halls and tidying away afterwards.
  • For hall events we do not dictate the size of the pitch. The only condition is that you confirm your size requirements by email beforehand, otherwise more space than a 6ft table cannot be guaranteed.
  • Guildbourne Centre events are priced per table.
  • Once a stall has been booked and paid for the fees are non-refundable unless the place can be taken up by another stallholder (so the funds can be recouped).
  • In the event that not all spaces are taken up at a hall event/events, a small extra amount (£1/£2 approximately) may need to be collected at the end of the year from those who have had stalls in that year.
  • All members are responsible for providing their own public liability insurance. The 'Mums' Marketplace', its committee and members will not accept responsibility for any loss, injury or damage to goods, property or persons (Mums' Marketplace member or the general public) howsoever caused during the operation of any Mums' Marketplace event.
